Our Vision

All can face cancer with dignity, confidence and serenity.

Our Mission

The Cancer Patient Support Foundation serves Vermont cancer patients and their families in a time of extraordinary need by providing financial assistance and support and acting as a resource during diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

What We Do

CPSF provides hope and emergency financial assistance to help Vermont cancer patients pay for basic living needs like housing, home heat and electricity, groceries, out-of-pocket medical expenses and gas for transportation to treatment. We serve more than 500 patients every year throughout Vermont, partnering with medical providers and social workers who refer patients to us for support.

Our History

In 2001, CPSF was established by a group of dedicated volunteers to fund psychological and nutritional counseling services for cancer patients in Vermont. In 2006, the program expanded to raise money for an Emergency Fund that could help patients pay for basic living needs such as rent, utilities, food and transportation to treatment appointments. We have awarded more than $3 million to local patients since 2001.

As insurance companies began to cover the cost of counseling services, CPSF’s focus shifted to the Emergency Fund. Today, the Emergency Fund is the foundation's primary program, serving more than 500 patients every year across Vermont.

In 2020, CPSF began administering the Maggie Card program, which allows Vermont cancer patients to receive discounts on goods and services from participating businesses.
