Tom Sustic Pediatric Emergency Fund
Tom Sustic
The Tom Sustic Fund was established in 2000 with a series of benefit events and donations. The Fund was designed to support costs associated with a bone marrow transplant for Tom, the son of Mark Sustic and Deborah Travis. Despite blood marrow drives sponsored by the US Postal Service in Vermont and an extensive international search, a suitable donor was not located. Following Tom’s death the Fund was repurposed to support families facing similar circumstances, providing critical assistance to families with children being treated for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses
In 2026 the Fund became the Tom Sustic Pediatric Emergency Fund at the Cancer Patient Support Foundation, continuing its original purposes and strengthening support for pediatric cancer patients and their families in Vermont. Events will conintue to raise awareness and sustain support for the Fund which helps ensure that families have resources to support their children and their basic needs.
Tom's life made the Fund possible, the lives of others makes it necessary- Mark Sustic and Deborah Travis
